The
Commission on Theological and Social Concerns [CTSC] of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church of England operates under the mandate to:
"give
advice to the church on theological, ecclesiastical, and social concerns
when this advice is sought."
The
commission is composed ex officio of the Chairman of the ELCE and
the teaching staff of Westfield House. In addition, two ministers
and two laymen serve by election of Synod.
The
advice of the commission may be sought by the ELCE in Synod, its congregations
and ministers, the Chairman, or the Barnes Conference (which is the
regular meeting of the ministers of the church). Ordinarily, the CTSC
responds to such requests with a written report, presented for discussion
and approval to the Barnes Conference and to the Synod.
